Pack light - Getting ready Friday 30th Jan 2004

Gearing up for the trip
My packing game started right after my Thursday work. I started wayyyy at night without noticing that it's actually Friday morning. The game objective is simple - to pack light.

Many tips on the net advised to pack as little as possible. Bring enough and not more. Chances are majority will be bringing more than what they should.

Clothings
5x short sleeve T-shirts, 3x shorts, excessive supply of underwear.

Warm Clothings for Mt. Kinabalu hike
1x winter jacket, 1x long sleeve T-shirt, 1x jeans, beanie, gloves and scaf.

Footwear
A hiking sneaker, walking sandal and two pair of thick stockings

Electronic Gadgets
Mobile phone, torch light, extra AA batteries, digital camera (Sony DSC P8), memory sticks (2x 128mb, 2x 16mb), 1x extra camera battery and a shaver. Yes, one unit of shaver is going to Sabah.

Toiletries
A couple of mini soap bars, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, face wash, towel and tissues.

Unnecessary Luxuries
Thermos for hot milo drink at peak, fly-sheet for beach picnic and 2 self improvement books namely Cashflow Quadrant and How To Win Friends And Influence People.

Other Stuff
Poncho, day pack bag, waist pouch, basic medications, booking documents, some cash, a pen, identification card, driving license, ATM card, my g-shock and some extra plastic bags to wrap up stuff.

How my thing are packed
Since rain is unpredictable in Sabah, I have decided to make everything anti-wet. Electronics are carefully sealed in a waterproof plastic case. Clothings are wrapped in a giant plastic. Plastic file casing for my booking documents and rain gear are placed in easy retrieving area. I was preparing for a flood.

"Pack light! Pack light!", and I ended up with over 15 kgs over my back.

That's it! Done with packing. Let's head to Kota Kinabalu, the land below the wind >>
